The Elimination Illumination spread
is a good method for gaining clarity in a situation. It was partly
developed by Uri, an Israeli kabbalist and mathematical genius.
The querant is to pick 7 cards and keeping them face down, arrange them in whatever order and direction feels right. It is the querant's point of view that is relevant. To make it easier, some readers will pivot the surface or cloth so that they see the cards from what was the querant's point of view. The cards are arraged from left to right. The central card (the fourth) is the center of the issue. It is turned face up first. Then to the right starting from the one immediately to the right, there are the past influences. The father to the right, the farther to the past. At the far right (the seventh card) is the situation or event or mind state that set things into motion. To the left, starting from the card immediately to the left of the central card, are the future events. The first card will be the outcome. From there it gets more interesting...The solution, deeper truth, or ultimate outcome is to be selected from the spread. Only the seven cards that came up in the reading are reshuffled and then presented to the querant face down. The querant is to select three. Again, the central card is the central focus of the solution. The card to the right is what has been done to enable a solution. The card to the right is the possible outcome of taking this opportunity. Then the three cards are reshuffled, and the querant is to select one. This card represents where the querant should focus their thoughts and energy in order to bring about the solution. This is a good spread as the focus is on solutions and personal responsibility for one's actions.
