Day of the Shigidi

On this day the Yoruba people give reverence to Shigidi, the Orisha of nightmares, and custodian of the unquiet dead.

It happens to land on World Slavery Day, and it is fitting that those who perpetuate cruelty under the cover of authority would be tormented around this time.

If you are a good person, or at least trying to be, light a candle outside to guide them out of your home, so they don’t settle in your dolls or other household items.
